Tonight's winner (by a mile!) is Moriarty - 11
kills, 12 defeats, 2 deaths
Cozette is in second place - 4 kills, 1 defeat
and 8 deaths
In third place, the-long-suffering-Deadcat -
2 kills, 3 defeats, 18 deaths
Zxylo (a newbie who was having their first bloodbath!)
is in fourth place
1 kill, 1 defeat and 6 deaths (and he had to
leave early too)
Loads of congrats to all who took part and hope
to see you (and you lot
too!) next week!

Why are we still haunted by these rantings?
Fighting is a part of the game - end of story
No one likes dying, but you get used to it
Or better still learn to fight back (or flee
at least)
There is no more satisfaction than scoring a
defence
And seeing the pathetic creature which returns
having been defeated
Slow connections, no software etc are not our
problems
Perhaps a few attacks should be necessary to
become immortal
To show you have really mastered the game?
Comments anyone? Hugs, Halley

How many attacks should it be? How many times
should you have to go round collecting
and lose 50k, 80k etc because wiz seconds or
arch
seconds have more fun killing high levels, before
you get to make immortal? Some of us actually
did make it a few times before the game came
to
the net. We did it with slower modems
and lots more killers and simply get
bored being told to do it again.
and to fight when fighting is no longer
a matter of skill, but of whether you can handle
the software

Subject: How to play
Dated: Sun Aug 19 14:14:04
I never particularly liked fighting
I did learn and even helped in fite skool
but really no longer want to.
If Shades does not have room for players
who like to roleplay and chat
and get fed up being ignored because not invis
or nagged to go out and collect and fight
then it has narrowed, to its detriment.
Which is why I spend more time on the game
where you need never get levels at all to have
spells which let you roleplay fully.

OK perhpas needing attacks is going too far.
My point is more that it should be accepted that
it happens
My main objection is to those who complain about
being attacked all the ti
Or say fighting should be stopped
It is a part of the game, so if they don't like
it
I have no problem with people opting to ssit
and chat in safe zones
I have no problmes with those who opt to sit
and chat in safe
what I object to is people complaining about
being attacked
When that is part of the game

Bit of an explicit reference to 'arch' seconds
there
baddy...you could of simply said 'immortal' seconds
I mean its been over a year now since I killed
you..
.. get over it honey bunch
And I haven't attacked you since..you simply
must
get over this paranoia my sweet pea pod

We all face the peril of death as we streive towards
the goal
If we didn't it would be very boring - anyone
can dodge mobiles
All I am trying to say is that cendemnation of
killers is pointless
It is a legal part of the game to be expected.
And I should know I've been noviced at 127k before
now!
You just pick yourself up and get on with it
and eventually you get there
So, please no more anti-killer stuff on the wall.....
its quite daft
If you don't want to risk dying stay in safe

I would like to say that I agree entirely with
Badriya.
And I'll tell you why... (shall I?)
From: Siva
Subject: Badrihalleystuff
Dated: Tue Aug 21 22:35:55
The game would be a duller place if people who
didn't like being
killed, didn't squawk about it. Which being said,
Badriya is correct
in saying that good roleplay is undervalued on
Shades, and should possibly
be rewarded by favouring its proponents. Immortals
who claim publicly
that fighting is part of the game are in my long
experience generally
those who squawked loudest (bad language, vile
insults) when they were
attacked as mortals.
And ignoring people who aren't invis is bad manners.

My dear fellow, as you only made the ONE error
then your message should
have been headed "erratum" and NOT "errata".
But this is only to be expected when all the
role players - whom I know
for a FACT received a proper classical education
- have been driven away by killer-s/w toting
nerds with nothing better
to do but lurk invis in safe until a mortal appears,
whom they
then promptly butcher.
and, yes, Ellie, this does mean YOU!

time keep it clean)
From: Halley

You can be really rather dense at times
The second error was writing errata not erratum
Hence the plural was quite appropriate
For reference I have never used software
I just like the occasional scrap
Unfortunately there are few people to attack
these days
Why not get yourself another character on the
go
And increase the target area a bit like I have
been doing

Need to carry around your Sex God Licence?
Could this be because NO ONE believes this could
be possible
Or because you have to prove it to yourselves
that it might be
Or because one of you
